May 5: Swirling with the Swine Pig Roast (Ringoes, NJ)

“Some like it hot. Let’s have a roast to start the warm season! We’re bringing in a new caterer to update this annual event. Q Crew Catering, based in Ringoes will be cooking up a Hawaiian-themed pig roast, including pineapple chicken skewers, Polynesian noodles, and other goodies besides the whole roasted pig. Jersey blues legend Mike Dugan will team up with songstress Jennifer McCracken as “Cheek2Cheek,” playing blues/jazz music throughout the night. We will be pouring some of our best wines by the glass (included with admission), and offering deep volume discounts. Plan on stocking up for your own summer BBQs.”

May 5: Friday Night Live/ High Hearts & BBQ (Stockton, NJ)

“We can’t wait for May 5th! This will be a very special #FridayNightLive, featuring High Hearts, a beloved local band, and the unveiling of our newest food vendor… Pulled Fork BBQ! We are so excited to welcome this awesome family team that puts up a SERIOUS Texas BBQ under the expert direction of Mike the Texan! Every Friday, Pulled Fork BBQ will park its smoker out back, so basically what we’re saying is you can let your nose lead the way to the Stockton Market to enjoy real #TexasBBQand wonderful live music on this joint Friday Night Live & Grand Opening event!”

 

May 6: 7th Annual Washington Crossing Brewfest (New Hope, PA)

“Beer lovers rejoice! The 7th annual Washington Crossing Brewfest, proudly supported by First National Bank & Trust Company of Newtown, features sampling of 130 beers from more than 60 national and regional breweries, live music, and food vendors.”

 

May 9: The Omnivore’s Dilemma Book Discussion & Farmer’s Dinner (Hopewell, NJ)

“Join Jon McConaughy and NOFA-NJ for a book club discussing topics at the core of the good food movement. This event is free to the public (although donations for the Northeast Organic Farming Association of NJ are gratefully received). Our Farmer’s Dinner (4 courses for $15) will be extended, and can be ordered up to 7pm.”

 

May 13: Pam’s Garden and Herb Class (Princeton, NJ)

“Fresh herbs add flavor and aroma to dishes, taking them from ordinary to extraordinary. Pam will teach her popular herb class and tell you everything you need to know about herb gardening. Participants will gather in front of Pam’s herb garden at the farm, She will discuss different kinds of herbs, when to pick them, and how to use them in cooking. She will also help you plan the layout of your garden. The session will include how to winter over your herb garden, and Pam will share her favorite recipes that use fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme, and sage. Potted herbs will be available for purchase.”

 

May 13: Cherry Grove Farm Ricotta Lunch – Mother’s Day Special (Lawrenceville, NJ)

“Give Mom the gift of learning this year by treating her to a day on the farm learning to make ricotta cheese, followed by enjoying a delectable lunch, and ending with a free guided tour of the farm. The intro to home cheese-making, ricotta is the easiest cheese to make at home. It requires only a few simple ingredients and very little time. Plus it can be eaten right away, making it ideal as a meal ingredient or a quick snack. In this hands-on class, you’ll watch side-by-side demonstrations on making ricotta using different coagulants before creating a savory lasagna lunch with a sweet ricotta dessert, using the cheese made in class. You’ll have time to ask questions while dining on your cheesy lunch (including a tasting of cheeses from Cherry Grove Farm), and then depart for the day with our signature class folder full of materials and recipes to use at home.”

May 18: Girls Night Out (Princeton, NJ)

“Join us for the 11th Annual Girls Night Out to experience an evening of exclusive promotions and discounts brought to you by the shops and restaurants of Palmer Square in downtown Princeton.”

 

May 20-21: Peddler’s Village Strawberry Festival (Lahaska, PA)

“Celebrate berry sweet traditions at the Peddler’s Village 39th Annual Strawberry Festival! Indulge in a weekend of Strawberry Treats & Eats and Family Fun. Stroll through the Village gardens to discover locally made crisp strawberry fritters, strawberry crumb pies, strawberry rhubarb pies, strawberry cheesecakes and tarts to strawberry cupcakes, donuts, warm muffins, strawberry popcorn, freshly dipped chocolate strawberries, strawberry crepes, water ice and smoothies.”

 

May 21: Crossing Vineyards Spring & Wine Food Festival (Washington Crossing, PA)

“Enjoy samples of wine, beer, spirits, food… and much, much more! Live music with The Just Us Band (first half of afternoon) and The Mango Men Duo (second half.) Table seating provided. Reservations suggested.”

 

May 28: The Winemakers Co-Op Spring Portfolio Tasting (Pittstown, NJ)

“The Winemakers Co-Op Spring Portfolio Tasting will feature 32 fine wines from four NJ wineries: Beneduce Vineyards, Unionville, Heritage Vineyards, and Working Dog Winery. Attendees will mingle with winemakers and proprietors, with specific opportunities to learn how these wines were crafted, and what makes New Jersey wines unique. Enjoy live music from Cold Weather Company, one of NJ.com’s ‘5 Must-Hear NJ Bands,’ and nosh on gourmet pizzas from Fired Up Flatbreads. VIP tickets will include access to a 2pm Winemakers’ Round Table panel discussion and tasting in the Oasis- Beneduce Vineyards’ greenhouse dedicated to tropical plants and citrus trees. This discussion will focus on a specific element of New Jersey wine making or grape growing, and include a tasting of wines relevant to the discussion. VIP entrants will also have a chance to taste a selection of reserve wines, and a complimentary cheese & charcuterie platter.”
